How do I get a star in Hollywood? In comment
here are several criteria that must be fulfilled to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame:
A little obvious, but you have to be famous, and this fame must have lasted a minimum of five years, meteoric fame with high rise and fast fall don’t count
The person receiving the star cannot self-nominate, somebody else have to nominate them. It could be wealthy fan, management, maybe publicist
The application and construction of the Star cost $50,000
Anybody can nominate a famous person, as long as that famous person or their management approves of the nomination (I think they must provide a written statement in the application saying they approve)
Once a person is nominated, that person have to physically show up at the star unveiling ceremony, if they don’t show up, it doesn’t count. This is why Al Pacino, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt don’t have a star; either they didn’t show up or they didn’t care (it’s basically a tourist attraction)
To get a star, an honoree need to have five years of experience in one of the five categories (Film, Television, Music, Radio, or Theater). Reality TV stars, however, they don’t get one because they don’t qualify. This is why Kim Kardashian don’t have a star. The former potus Donald Trump, he got a star because he was a producer for the Miss Universe / Miss USA beauty pageant, not because the Apprentice.
